Score of The Shepton Sheep Song
The Shepton club hut is just across the mineries from the Belfry, the home of the BEC, and sports a brass plaque on the door engraved with a Bat and "Official Tea Makers to the B.E.C." Steve Wynne-Roberts (Swine) and Mike Boon were members of the 1963 British Expedition which descended to the bottom of the then worlds deepest cave, the Gouffre Berger in France. Ken Pierce and Wynne-Roberts dived the final sump thereby beating the so-called international world descent record.
The first verse was written I think by Liz Thompson and I wrote the rest.

We're the Shepton Mallet Caving Club, Baa, Baa, Baa,
Other clubs have their tigers but we have our sheep, Baa, Baa, Baa,,
Gentlemen cavers out on a spree, lost down in Swildons 23,
No more tea for the B.E.C., Baa, Baa, Baa..

We're the Shepton Mallet Caving Clique, Baa, Baa, Baa,
Other clubs scratch the surface but we go deep, Baa, Baa, Baa,
Record breakers mates are we, Gouffre Berger 63,
Swine and Boon on the BBC, Baa, Baa, Baa.

We're the Shepton Mallet Diving Group, Baa, Baa, Baa,
In icy black waters we often stoop, Baa, Baa, Baa,
Gentlemans bogs are not you see, found down in Swildons 23,
Rude and crude we all have to be, Baa, Baa, Baa.

We're the Shepton Mallet Family Club, Baa, Baa, Baa,
Our usual home is the Hunters Pub, Baa, Baa, Baa,
Even the boozy B.E.C., marvel at our capacity,
The exclusive caving fraternity, Honk, Honk, Honk.
