This little ditty follows the Exploration Club song. It is an adaptation of a song called "The Bar Room Mountaineers" which came to Mendip from the Liverpool YHA in the late 1940's.
If you hear a tally ho, pause and sometimes Tally Ho spoken
In the middle of the night, pause
Be not afraid, pause dear Belfryite,
For its only a drunken mountaineer, pause
A bar room mountaineer, pause
We are very seldom sober, pause we are always half seas over, pause
And when we've had enough for four, pause
You'll never find us on the floor, pause
It's up to the bar and shout for more, pause
We're the bar room mountaineers.
